Bernard Butler: moving on

BERNARD BUTLER

...releases his debut solo album, "People Move On", on Creation on April 6. Butler has written, produced, arranged and played everything on the album, apart from drums, which are courtesy of his official drummer Mako Sakamoto, and backing vocals on a couple of tracks, supplied by guests Edwyn Collins and Denise Johnson.

The album, recorded over last summer in Air and Rak studios, contains Butler's two singles, "Stay" and "Not Alone".

The other tracks are: "Woman I Know", "You Just Know", "People Move On", "A Change Of Heart", "Autograph", "You Light The Fire", "When You Grow", "You've Got What It Takes", "In Vain" and "I'm Tired".

Butler's spokesman said: "It's a pretty wide-ranging album to which the singles give clues, but not the whole picture."

Meanwhile, Creation supremo Alan McGee is currently in New York where he has reported a massive American interest in Butler.

Bernard's solo, acoustic March dates at the London Highbury Garage sold out in a matter of hours, and his additional show, also an acoustic event, at the Albery Theatre on April 19 sold out within a day.

Butler will play only solo material, including many of the album tracks.

He is now in the final stages of putting a band together and they are expected to go out on the road for electric shows later in the year, when they've had time to rehearse the material.
